Today (3/8) the Art World group visited the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in mid-town NYC. The museum offered students the rare opportunity to view a significant exhibition of Joan Miro's work. The MoMA is also home to a countless number of other contemporary artist's work, such as Picasso, Van Gogh, Manet, Seurat, and Rothko. A special treat was a gallery talk hosted by a dear friend of Mr. Walker's, Alexi Worth. Mr. Worth is a producing artist, a faculty member at Yale and a highly informed art historian. Student blog entries: (Leanna C.) Today we went to the MoMA which I have been to before, but there was some new stuff this time around. It was interesting to see how it had changed and what was still changing about it. What I loved most about this museum was that it had Monét's giant water lily paintings, I haven't seen them since I went to Amsterdam which was a while ago, so it was nice to be able to see them again. (Cameron T.) Today we went to MoMA Museum where we saw lots of modern and contemporary art, and even famous art from people like Van Gough, Claude Monet, and even Jackson Pollock. I really liked the the Jackson Pollock art and the abstract art from Georges Braque. My favorite part was having a “tour guide” who told us about his opinions and what he learned about them.
